New pedals, same old dodgy back.

Well no pedalling for the past 10 days for me, after throwing my spine four or five inches to the right after a back spasm. I'd just cycled into work and without warming down (walking about a bit) sat down to lead an Illustration group crit. Getting up was a problem, but some frozen veg at the point of pain and a trip to my Chiropractor the next day has made recovery a quick one.

My Chiro, Dr Robert, is a christ-like, calming figure, but on this occasion made me a little bit anxious prior to my 'adjustment' by whispering "OK. Ready for the pain?" I might mock up a nice sign to hang over his door with that line as his motto. That'd go a long way to reassuring the worriers out there about the gentle - and appallingly named - science of 'chiropractic'.
Works for me anyway.

In the mean-time, James has been keeping his training ticking over nicely, and set up a page for anyone who wants to sponsor us - at: http://www.justgiving.com/jamespenny

Post 'Bonk' solo ride.

A modest 43, from Stone out to Stafford, Eccleshall and on to try and find my lost glasses at the 'bonk' site in Mucklestone (no luck). Ate sensibly, blueberry nutrigrains and dates every hour and a half or so, and the miles flew by...apart from on one longish climb past St Peters Church in Broughton. Despite signs of wearing in from the Brooks saddle, got home to find a nice saddle sore in a barely accessible spot. Chafing. Funny word, but not when the result is thrumming painfully alongside your 'boys'.
